Bio:

My freelance illustration career actually began in fourth grade, raking in playground quarters from friends who commissioned me to draw horses. Later, in college, I majored in my two favorite subjects, reading and drawing, a good combination for working as (sequentially) teacher, graphic designer, art director, illustrator, author, and painter. My last real job title was Sr. Interactive Designer for a top secret early-internet company in Cambridge, MA. I liked to say I was a construction worker on the Information Superhighway.

I live with my family in Charlotte NC where my "treetop" studio overlooks some of Mother Nature's wildest work. My imagery appears in books, magazines, institutional and corporate publications, and licensed surface design.

The Adobe Illustrator CS WOW! Books series features my art in the 2010‚ 2006, and 2004 editions. My creative work has been recognized with honors by Print Magazine's Regional Design Annual, Art Director's Club, and Bookbuilders of Boston. In favorable reviews from The Horn Book Guide, School Library Journal, Booklist, and Kirkus Reviews, my illustration has been called "exuberant, joyful, vibrant, lively, inviting, vivid, energetic, expressive".

I've illustrated a dozen children's trade books, and the most recent, THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS IN NORTH CAROLINA, credits me as author/illustrator. More in the works, please check back.
